Motesando Hill was built in 2005. The development was built by Minoru Mori(see below for more info). The development nearly occupies the full length of Omotesando. The building replaced the Doujunkai Apartment, which happened to be built in 1927 after the Great Kanto Earthquake.

Minoru Mori is considered one of Japan's most powerful and influential building person in Japan After graduating from Tokyo University he join his father, Taikichioro, and his real estate business. Mori is now the CEO of Mori Building Company. The company is 100% family own by himself and his olde borther Kei, a university professor, families. The family name is found on many of the real estate developments around Japan. Both himself adn his brother have been listed on Forbes lis of the world's richest men. The largest project taken by the company is Roppongi HIlls developments in Tokyo which opened in 2003. The is also construction on the Shanghai World Financial Center which is to become Asia's tallest building. In 2005, Mori's latest development opened near Harajuku station, Omotesando Hill.
