When pen input is better

• writing quick notes
• while standing
• when not convenient to use keyboard
  
  
• pen control of GUI is more natural
  • screen right and left is pen right and left, as with mouse
  • screen up and down is pen up and down, mouse is forward and back
    
    
• creating items difficult to do with keyboard
  • diagrams (such as for geometry, chemistry, physics)
  • equations, especially complicated ones
  • drawing pictures
    
    
• when you don't want the "wall" of the computer screen between you and others

Having pen with keyboard is better

• editing a paper (point and select with pen, edit with keyboard)
• mostly text with some drawings

When is keyboard input better?

• Writing a paper sitting at a desk
