Early on, numerous automotive manufactures existed in the United States and Michigan. Since then, many of them have either consolidated, gone of business or have been purchased by larger companies. Today, the "Big 3", Ford, General Motors, and Daimler-Chrysler still reside in Michigan producing the next generation of vehicles.
While the trend these days is continually towards more aerodynamic, fuel effiecent cars, people still like and need more robust vehicles. Seen below, are examples of each. To the left, is the Saab "Aero X" and to the right, the Ford F-450 Super Duty. Both serve as prime examples of the spectrum of automobiles in America. On one end, the sleek sports car, and on the other a rugged workhorse.
